Bernard P. Friel was the promotional trip photographer for Outward Bound International for 6 years, photographing in the Boundary Water Wilderness Canoe Area of Minnesota, Cataract Canyon of the Colorado River and the Green River, where subjects were photographed canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, hiking and camping.  Mr. Friel is available for adventure travel assignments or assignments involving natural history, scenics, birds, animals, architecture, floods, festivals, aerial views, air shows, races, etc. We acknowledge that we have no skill in underwater photography.

High speed flash photography of birds and animals is one of our primary specialties.  We have also collected a large number of images of Anasazi ruins and pictographs and petroglyphs. A significant number of the images are the result of adventure travel over the past 35 years.  That travel has included over a dozen raft trips, including, among others, three down the Grand Canyon, two down the Middle Fork of the Salmon, one down the Hulahula in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, backpacking in over 20 National or State Parks and Refuges, over 30 Canoe trips to the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area of Minnesota and adjacent Quetico Park in Canada, sailing in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, fifteen trips to Alaska including two to the McNeil Grizzly Bear Sanctuary and climbs of over 10 peaks including Mount Rainier, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and Pico de Orizaba in Mexico.
In 2005 we are planning a canoe trip to the Quetico Park wilderness canoe area of Canada and an 18 day Dorie trip down the Grand Canyon.

We are available for photo assignment work and are equipped to shoot in still format in 35 mm, medium format or 4 x 5 and in film or video with 16 mm or digital video.
